The difference between oil-based paint and water-based paint

At present, more than 80% of the coated container foils in the market are mainly oil-

based paint.

However, in recent years, as the concept of green and environmental protection has

been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, water-based paints made of modified

polyolefins and polyester resins have great potential in the coated container foil market,

especially through the improvement of heat-sealing technology. Water-based paint is

also very good. After meeting the heat sealing requirements, it is expected that water-

based paint will usher in rapid development in the future.

The specific characteristics between the two are as follows:

1. Oil-based coatings use different diluents from water-based coatings. The former is a solvent, the latter is distilled water, and the latter is more environmentally friendly;

2. The dry film thickness of oil-based coatings is thicker, and the former has higher unit consumption ;

3. Oil-based coatings are easy to catch fire when exposed to open flames, and the requirements for baking and curing are more stringent;

4. Oil-based coatings have thicker film thickness, slower production speed, and lower efficiency;

5. Water-based coatings are more environmentally friendly and less polluting to the processing environment.
